Last Monday, January 9, 2017, the annual Tagisan ng Talino was held at the Fourth floor of STI Calamba Academic Center. Senior high students were mostly the audience. When you look to left and right side of the premises, maximum of 20 college students were present.
The said event was for both Senior High and College Students. The categories were open for both level but it seemed that college students were only seen in the contest venue because their instructor told them to do so. Some college students were there just to sit at the back part of the venue to have a cool place while browsing their social media account. Another reason why college students doesn’t want to watch is maybe because it bored them. Some college students prefer to eat at the cafeteria than to show their support to their classmate whose one of the contestants, well if there is one. Senior high students were lively and have occupied almost all the chairs allotted to the whole audience. From the opening ceremony down to the awarding, the venue is filled with senior high students with a little number of college student mostly were participants in other categories waiting for the results if they won in their respective category.
I think the event coordinator should allot a place where college student can seat. This is the reason why the number of college students in the audience were limited, I think. They easily go out of the venue because there is no available seat. The coordinator should have estimated the number of audience expected to attend the event.
